Project Goals & Impact

Our overall goal was to help end childhood hunger. We completed three projects that addressed this goal. These projects included Eat Out for Hunger Night, Snowflakes to End Hunger, and a canned food drive.

Goal #1

Our first goal was to collect 500 or more items for the local food pantry. We successfully attained this goal by collecting 600+ cans of food. We donated the food to the Montgomery County Ministerial Alliance which helped needy families in Montgomery County.  If we were to do this again, we would hold the contest for a few more days to get even more items donated.

Goal #2

Our next goal was to raise over $300 from our Eat Out Against Hunger Night.  We received 10% of the sales from 5 local restaurants for one evening.  We successfully attained our goal by raising $406.62, which was donated to our local NRG backpack program. This benefits local children in our school district by providing meals on the weekends.  If we were to do this again, we would try to get involvement from the few remaining restaurants that are in our surrounding communities within the county.

Goal #3

Our last goal was to raise $100 from our Snowflakes to End Hunger event.  We sold paper snowflakes to students in our school.  The homeroom that purchased the most snowflakes won an ice cream sundae party.   We were able to raise $143 through this event.  The money went to No Kid Hungry, which is a national charitable organization.  If we were to repeat this project, we would set a higher goal and challenge the student body to raise even more money.
